New releases. More yet to come. Here are some books I’m excited about. Here are some you just might be excited about too.

DEAR SENTHURAN by AKWAEKE EMEZI.

Akwaeke Emezi is set to make their non-fiction debut on the 29th of June, 2021. Dear Senthuran: A Black Spirit Memoir is a collection of letters to family, friends and fellow storytellers written by the author.

On the 21st of January, They took to social media to make the announcement. In a tweet, They say that the memoir was written “spiritfirst without disguise”.

Dear Senthuran is probably the most anticipated release of the year and we can’t wait.

SANKOFA by CHIBUNDU ONUZO.

Award-winning writer, Chibundu Onuzo is back with another great work of fiction.

Sankofa is set to be released on the 3rd of June, 2021. It is the story of Anna, a mixed-race British woman living in London, who goes in search of her black father. In her search, she later comes to find that her father is now the president of a fictional West-African country, Bamana.

LIGHTSEEKERS by FEMI KAYODE.

For the fans of Crime Fiction and Mystery.

Femi Kayode’s fictional debut is a grim story of murder, youthful vice and mystery. It follows Phillip Taiwo, a Nigerian private-eye and the protagonist of the book, who investigates the murder of three young students in a university town. Inspired by the ALUU4 tragedy, Femi says writing the book was a “sort of exorcism”.

LEAVING MESCHACH by CHIKA UNIGWE.

Chika Unigwe has dazzled us in the past with her amazing releases (all six of them, actually). Leaving Meschach promises to be her seventh.

Leaving Meschach is set to be published fall of 2022 by US Publishers, Dzanc Books. Although, it’s a long time coming
